week 18 (very late)

Today I am 18 weeks and 6 days, so this post is very late, but it's better late than never, right? Last week was a little disappointing since we didn't get to find out the sex of Baby Brunker, but I am over it, there is nothing I can do to change the situation.  Instead, the only thing on my mind is July 7th.  It can't come soon enough.  Funny this is (well not actually funny) my appointment isn't until the afternoon.  All of my other appointments have been in the mornings so it will make the wait even harder, but o well.  I am exhausted and need/want to get to bed so I am going to quickly do my week 18 pregnancy updates and say good night:
Pregnancy Updates: Week 18
How Far Along: 18 weeks 6 days
Total Weight Gain: I would guess around 8-9 pounds (oops!)
Maternity Clothes: yes, for the most part
Favorite Moment This week: Buying nursery furniture!! Will be delivered July 22nd
Gender: still unknown-touchy subject!
Movement: YES! A LOT more flutters these past few days-amazing!
Food Cravings: Ice cream, all fruit, OJ (speaking of which I am going to have a glass before bed tonight-yummy!!) and cereal
What I miss: exercising without losing my breath quickly.  I went for a walk today and I thought I was going to die about 5 minutes into the walk, I also get shortness of breath just from going up the stairs
Sleep: great-for the most part! Sunday was a rough night.  It was a stormy night, we had about 3 different waves of storms come our way and then about 5:30am Ben's cell phone rang and it was ADT security, I thought it had something to do with our house but our alarm was set and not going off so it couldn't have been.  Ben didn't answer the phone because he said it was for Goetze and they would just call the next person on the list (he is first).  Well about 1 minute later my cell phone rang and it was an 800 # so I answered it and it was ADT wanting to speak with Ben.  I gave the phone to Ben and they told him that glass sensors and 3-4 burgular alarms were going off at Goetze and they had already called the police and Ben needed to get to Goetze ASAP to meet the police.  I was freaking out and wanted to go with him, so we both jumped out of bed at 5:34am and headed to Goetze (it's only about a 12 minute drive).  All the way there we are a little scared and wondering if maybe the building got struck by lightning or there really was some idiot that broke in trying to get out of the storm.  Well, we get there and there are no police and the power is out.  After making a few calls we decided to head back home, Ben got ready for work, and I went back to bed, thank goodness my Monday family is on vacation this week so I did NOT have to work, or else I would have been miserable.  Long story short-the keypads at Goetze are not battery back-up and there is one employee who arrives at Goetze around 5:30am and when he arrived and turned off the alarm using the keypad it did not work so the alarms went off.  What a crazy ordeal.  Ben and I did not know my cell number was #2 on the list to call.  Anyway, that was a tangent-so sorry!
What I am looking forward to: I think you already know-JULY 7th.  JULY 7th.  JULY 7th.  J.U.L.Y. 7th!!!
Symptoms: backaches, maybe because I have been working too hard around the house and in the yard, headaches in the afternoon and that is pretty much it!! Yay!!

Ok-I am exhausted and going to bed now.  To be honest, I was going to have Ben take a picture of me tonight but 1) I am too tired and 2) that would be 'cheating' or inaccurate since tomorrow I will be 19 weeks, so I am going to skip week 18 picture and take one tomorrow night for week 19.  Sorry!
GOOD NIGHT!

32 months....

...NO interest financing at Nebraska Furniture Mart!!! Woo Hoo!! I was sitting on the couch Wednesday night watching Wheel of Fortune and the first commercial that came on was for NFM and they were advertising for 32 months NO interest financing, which is exactly what I have been waiting for.  Ben was still at work so I called him with much excitement and we agreed that we would go buy baby furniture on Saturday.  So, that is what we did.  Baby furniture is purchased and will be delivered July 22nd.  I am super excited to start decorating the room, but first, little nugget needs to cooperate so I will know what color(s) to decorate with.  July 7th can't come soon enough.

I know I did not get an updated for week 18 up, I am hoping to do that later today or tomorrow!

Stubborn

  • Baby Brunker is STUBBORN! Little nugget was laying breech today at the ultrasound and would not flip over, therefore we could not determine the sex of the baby.  Baby was very active and waving at us and showing it's tongue to us.  It is so amazing how much you can see on those ultrasounds.  With nugget laying breech we got an amazing view of his/her spine-so incredible!
  • All is well with my cervix-it is not shortening or opening-which is great news!!
  • My placenta is still right on top of my cervix, but I will not be diagnosed with placenta previa until after 20 weeks, so hopefully the placenta will move in the next few weeks!
  • That is all for now! Now we just have to wait until July 7th and hope little nugget cooperates and shows us what it is! I am ready to shop! Ben and I were both a little bummed that we did not find out today but our bank account is happy!! I was planning on spending this afternoon shopping for nugget if we found out, but instead we will be saving some money for a couple more weeks!

Week 17

I feel like Ben and I have been super busy this past week, but thinking back on the week I can't really say what we did that made me feel so busy.  Ben worked late almost every night this week-National Sales Meeting is coming up and he is preparing for that.  I deep cleaned the house Thursday and Friday.  My back was killing me by the time I got done, but looking at the house it was worth it.  There is just something about having a clean, spotless home that I LOVE! I also LOVE that Ben always notices that I have cleaned deep down, which makes it even more worth it.  I polished the hard wood floors and that is the first thing he said when he got home Friday night, I was happy! We went to Nebraska Furniture Mart and looked at cribs and nursery furniture, and we have the one we want picked out, just not purchased yet.  In the next 2 weeks we will get it ordered! Now to the pregnancy updates of week 17...
Pregnancy Updates
How Far Along: 17 weeks 5 days
Total Weight Gain: don't want to go there...
Maternity Clothes: YES
Favorite Moment This Week: I got a lullabelly, which is a band that goes around your belly and you can connect your i-Pod to it and play music to the baby, so while I was working around the house I put it on and played some music and the baby was moving around-so cute and fun to feel!
Gender: Don't know YET, Tuesday might be the big day.  We are going to tell our parents in a unique and creative way, and since we have 4 sets of parents it might take a couple of days to get the word to them all, so I am not going to announce anything anywhere until all immediate family knows!
Movement: Yes, little flutters-LOVE it!
Food Cravings: Eggo waffles, (still). Orange Juice, milk, ice cream
What I miss: having a clear face-I NEVER had acne as a teenager or ever and now that I have been pregnant my face has been horrible.  I have been getting facials every 3 weeks and they seem to help for about a week to 10 days and then my face goes back to breaking out.  It is very annoying.  I thought pregnant women were supposed to have a glow?!?! Acne is not a glow...
Sleep: the past few nights have been horrible.  I have been able to initially fall asleep fairly quickly but the past 3 nights we have had bad storms in the middle of the night and they wake me up and I can't get back to sleep.  So annoying! I have been using the body pillow Ben got me for Mother's Day and it has really helped me in getting comfortable.
What I am looking forward to: TUESDAY, I am really hoping I do not get my hopes up on thinking we will find out the gender.  I knew going into my 16 week appointment we wouldn't find out, so I am really hoping on Tuesday at my 18 week appointment we will find out.  The bedding I want for a boy is on sale from Pottery Barn, so if we are having a boy I would love to save some money and buy the bedding on sale.
Symptoms: Nothing too horrible.  I get headaches throughout the day.  I have a cold right now, don't know if that is pregnancy related or not.  But, for the most part I am doing well. I am ready for bed a lot earlier in the evenings but I think that is because I am not taking an afternoon nap.  All is well with me!!

week 16

Wednesday I had an ultrasound and my 16 week OB appointment.  All went well!! Baby is very active! We were thinking we might be able to find out the sex of the baby, but we didn't.  Baby Brunker's legs were crossed.  It was actually pretty cute, because the right ankle was tucked behind the left ankle and the baby would move around like that without moving the right leg off of the left.  When I called my dad and told him that he said it must be a girl and she is being modest and not showing her privates.  I have had other people tell me that too-we will see!! Next ultrasound is June 21, so hopefully we will be able to walk out of the appointment on that day and I can start buying gender specific baby items!! Ben and I haven't really been doing anything exciting-he has been working a lot and I have been reading and relaxing a lot! Nothing too exciting going on with us besides the pregnancy.
Pregnancy Updates
How Far Along:16 weeks 2 day
Total Weight Gain: 6 pounds (eek!)
Maternity Clothes: Yes
Favorite Moment This Week: getting to see the baby during the ultrasound on Wednesday.  It is so amazing what you can see during the those.  The spine was incredible during this one.  The baby was stretching out, almost like it was trying to do a back bend and that is when the spine was easily seen.  So amazing that all of this is going on inside of me.  What an incredible miracle this is!
Gender: Don't know yet, wish we would have found on on Wednesday but hopefully on the 21st, which is only 11 days away we will find out at the 18 week ultrasound! Can't wait!
Movement: I am going to say yes! When my Dr. asked me this question on Wednesday I told her I didn't know, I explained to her the weird/funny feeling I would feel every once in awhile and told her I didn't know if it was movement or round ligament pain and she said the way I described it it sounds to her it is movement.  So now, every time I feel that feeling I touch my belly (although it is still too early to feel any movement from the outside of my body) and I am in awe that my little baby is moving around inside of me!
Food Cravings: Apples with Peanut Butter, Orange Juice
What I miss: Being active.  I am hoping the weather cools down this weekend so I can get a long walk in!
Sleep: The past few nights have been great, ever since Wednesday when I asked my Dr. about laying/sleeping on my back.  I have read a lot that at around 16 weeks you should stop laying flat on your back, so I have been trying this week not to lay on my back while sleeping and I told Ben if he wakes up and I am on my back to roll me over.  Well, my Dr. said that I can lay flat on my back until 20 weeks.  So, I have been taking advantage of what my Dr. said and am enjoying my sleep a little more, even though I still get up to use the restroom 3-5 times a night.
What I am looking forward to: Ben and I are going to go to Nebraska Furniture Mart in the next few days and finalize which crib/bedroom furniture we want. We aren't going to make the final purchase yet but we are going to figure out which one we want.  Right now NFM only has 12 months no interest financing and I am thinking that closer to July 4th they will have a sale/special going on with better financing and that is when we will buy the crib.  I am all for saving some money these days.  I am started to become very frugal (it drives Ben nuts sometimes when I tell him he wasted something or I can't believe he bought that, etc. etc. When Ben thinks he needs a new 'toy' or something I think of what the price is going to be and then I tell him "well that could buy about 4 or 5 packages of diapers"
Symptoms: Well, last night Ben and I went out to eat with his mom and sister at Abuelos in Zona Rosa (I love(d) Mexican food) and then I met my mom at the movie theater and we saw Water for Elephants (the book was better), well, during the entire movie I kept burping up my dinner, but didn't think anything of it, just thought I was having a little heartburn, no big deal.  Well, I then came home and laid on the couch and finished watching the NBA finals game and all of the sudden I didn't feel well.  I thought I just had a gassy stomach.  I got ready for bed and went to take my prenatal vitamin and as I was bringing the water up to mouth to take a drink I had to quickly stop and run to the toilet, and there I lost my entire dinner.  TMI? Sorry! I felt a little better after I threw up and went right to bed.  I do not know if this was pregnancy related or what that was all about.  I am also starting to get bad headaches in the afternoon.  My Dr. told me to just make sure I am staying hydrated, but headaches are common this time of pregnancy.  O joy!

I feel like I rambled a lot above so I am going to stop tying and post some pictures of my growing belly and some ultrasound pictures of little nugget (this is what Ben and I call the baby)!! Enjoy!

left side: profile and neck- right side: leg; hip, knee and foot
more leg and profile-amazing!!

profile again-I think baby already has Ben's nose! ha!

arm and hand, waving! So cute!!

A little behind...week 15

I have been busy/lazy/tired so I have not blogged in awhile.  From now on I am going to make more of a conscious effort to blog at least once a week.  I am going to start something new on the weekly blog, which I think will help me to stay motivated in blogging.  I am going to start doing pregnancy highlights and updates.  So here goes...
Pregnancy Updates
How Far Along: 15 weeks 6 days
Total Weight Gain: I would say about 5 pounds, I do not get on the scale everyday, so this might not be a consistent update
Maternity Clothes: Yes, for the most part.  I can still wear some 'normal' shirts but the bottoms are where I have issues.
Favorite Moment This week: Getting the nursery cleared out and cleaned.
Gender: Not known, yet...
Movement: None that I know of yet.
Food Cravings: Eggo Waffles, all fruit, chocolate covered raisins
What I miss: Running.  And, walking, with the weather being hot I have not felt comfortable going for a walk outside.  I could go in the basement and walk on the treadmill but I don't like walking on treadmills, only running.
Sleep: I have been having a hard time falling asleep the past few nights.  Once I get to sleep I sleep for about 2 hours before I have to get up and use the restroom, then the vicious cycle starts all over again-I can't fall asleep and then when I do I only sleep for 2 hours before it's time to use the potty again.
What I am looking forward to: My 16 week appointment tomorrow and ultrasound.  For those that do not know-I had to have surgery on my cervix back in 2007 so now that I am pregnant I have to get ultrasounds every 2 weeks starting at 16 weeks until 24 weeks, to check on my cervix to make sure it is holding the baby/uterus and is not starting to open.  I am a little nervous for tomorrow, as I hope everything is alright with my cervix, but I am excited to see the baby and excited that I get to see the baby every 2 weeks for awhile!
Symptoms: Some days in the afternoons I start to feel nauseous and really tired.  It is not every day like it used to be, thank goodness! I think I am starting to have round ligament pain in my lower stomach.  Other than that I am feeling great!!

Well, that is the update for week 15, but unfortunately there is no picture to accompany the update.  I am going to try to get better on that too, and I will!! Have a great day and try to stay cool-this heat is crazy..too early for this!!
