Easter 2012

Is it too late to do an Easter post? I hope not, because I am doing one!

Our Easter was pretty relaxed, I am mainly doing this post just for memories and to share pictures from the day!

The Saturday night before Easter, Ben and I went out for a little date night.  My mom stayed at the house with Brooklyn and stayed over night as she was going to celebrate Easter with us the following day.  I had my mom 'help' Brooklyn make a note to the Easter bunny and leave him some carrots-she did a great job! Thanks mom!

Sunday morning, we all woke up and our kitchen looked like Santa had arrived.  But, it was just the Easter Bunny spoiling Brooklyn.  She opened all of her goodies, mom and I finished our 7 layer salad, we all showered and hit the road to St. Joe to Lisa's house (Ben's mom).

We had a great time and ate some really good food!! Yummy!!

Picture re-cap of the day!

She also got teethers!

Nana got Brooklyn a farm animal puzzle!

If this is what it looks like on Easter morning, what is my house going to look like on Christmas morning this year? Someone is spoiled rotten!

Brooklyn-5 Months

5 months have gone by since I brought my baby girl into this world! It has been the best 5 months EVER!! We have had some great moments and some not so great, but I wouldn't change anything for the world! Brooklyn changes every day and this age is really fun!

Unofficial Stats:
Weight: 15.5 pounds
Length: 23 inches

Wearing a few 3-6 month clothes, but mostly 6-9month or 6-12month clothes.
Size 2 diaper

Typical daily feeding schedule: 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm
She is taking 5 1/2 ounces from a bottle during the day and then her 7pm night time bottle she is getting 6-6 1/2 ounces.  All breast milk.
I am still a pumping machine and hope to continue to only give her breast milk until at least 6 months.  At 6 months I will re-evaluate the pumping situation and see what I should do.  It is very time consuming some days.  I do not have any issues with my supply-if anything, some days I can't keep up with my supply! I am hoping this month to eliminate the middle of the night pumping session.  We will see.  Anyway, back to Brooklyn....

So, what has Brooklyn been up to this past month?!?...

  • Started grabbing at things and putting EVERYTHING in her mouth!
  • Loves Sophie the Giraffe!
  • We started rice cereal in the twice a day, mornings and evenings, on 3/30, but on 4/9 we decided to stop the cereal for awhile.  My original plan was to wait to introduce solids until 6 months and I think we are going back to the plan.  I could tell the cereal was giving Brooklyn a tummy ache and bad poops (which I know are to be expected) but as her mommy, I just didn't feel like she was ready.
  • We started 'sleep training' and took away the swaddle on 3/30.
  • She finally found her feet (on 4/3) and loves them!!
  • Loves water bottles!
  • It is safe to say that Brooklyn HATES getting her picture taken professionally.  Her 4 month pictures were a complete bust! I don't know what I am going to do about pictures...
  • Loves to stand!
  • Likes her Jumperoo-she finds something new on it every day!
  • Loves her playmat and bouncy seat. The only time she sits in her bouncy seat is when mommy and daddy are eating dinner. She sits and stares at her daddy-some nights I don't think she knows that I am on the other side of her.  Too cute!
  • She will swat at anything in front of her (started doing this early in the month) but now she will grab anything in front of her! Amazing how she learned to grab things with both hands in just a few short weeks!
  • Still not a big fan of naps.  Naps used to be 45 minutes long and I was annoyed with that, well, naps are now about 30 minutes long.  Silly girl!
  • Took first trip to Florida! (will do a separate post on that later)
  • Starting to really like her daddy!
  • Very attentive!
  • Curious about everything and anyone!
  • Loves being outside!
  • Loves her bumbo! We are starting to work on unassisted sitting. Hopefully by 6 months she will have that down!
  • Doesn't really roll over anymore from front to back.  Silly girl.  We are trying to work on rolling from back to front.  She tries really hard in her crib sometimes, she is almost there, but not quite.  Hopefully this will get accomplished by 6 months too!
  • She is still taking Axid 3 times a day for her Acid Reflux.  When we got her last script filled, we got a 3 month supply.  I am hoping that once that supply is gone we will be done with the medicine.  I think we have about another month-6 weeks left of the medicine.
  • She is still only taking bottles (will nurse if she wants to eat in the middle of the night).
  • Loves bath time still!  She can be very grumpy in the evenings but the minutes she hits the tub she is happy little girl who loves to kick and splash and eat all of her bath toys! She loves Darla the Duck (daddy and I named her)
  • Was away from mommy for her first night.  Mommy and Daddy had an event to attend and they decided to stay the night at a hotel downtown.  Brooklyn stayed at home and her Nana (my mom) came to stay with her and watch her overnight.  Brooklyn did well and only woke up one time in the night for Nana!
She grows and changes every day! I think this next month is going to be a big month of accomplishments! I am pretty sure she will learn to roll over back to front and she will be sitting up by herself unassisted by the end of the month! She is getting more fun each day and I can't wait to see what this month brings!! I love my baby girl!

Enjoy the picture overload!!
putting my toes in the grass for the first time!

rice cereal for the first time!

up early on a Saturday morning-looks just like daddy when still half asleep!

Rock Chalk!!

sleeping on daddy one evening! Don't know what was going on this day.  It was the day of her 4 month pictures that were a complete disaster and she just cried.  We left pictures at 3:30pm she quickly fell asleep and slept until 9:30pm when daddy and I woke her up! growth spurt?

sitting on the front porch in my bumbo! big girl!

This photo shoot was fun!! She did not cooperate at all, but still fun to watch her!! I just had to show off all of the pictures!! Such a silly girl! She loves those feet!

ALL DONE!!

Hopefully I will get around to making a collage to compare her months 1-5, when I do, I will post it here!!
