Babymoon-Eureka Springs/Beaver Lake

This past weekend we went to Beaver Lake/Eureka Springs for our last get away before baby Brooklyn arrives.  It was so nice to get away and not have anything to worry about! I don't think Ben has ever really taken a true vacation from work, except for our honeymoon.  When we go to Florida he always works in the morning and then enjoys vacation time in the afternoons and evenings.  But, on our honeymoon and babymoon, he never checked his email, didn't take any work calls, NOTHING! I was so happy for him to be able to relax and not have to work and spend quality time we ME!

We left Thursday morning, stopped about 30 minutes away from our cabin at Wal-Mart to get groceries and such then checked into our cabin around 4pm.

The last 20 minutes of the drive were very curvy, and steep roads.  It was quite the experience driving that terrain, Ben kept saying he felt like we should be in Colorado going up a mountain or something, NOT in Arkansas!

We watched movies, ate popcorn (I ate kettle corn-I am not a huge popcorn fan) ate pizza and candy and relaxed.

We slept in Friday morning, even Ben slept in, which is very unusual for him.  We cooked breakfast and then went and explored the property we were staying on.  They had an inside fishing area, canoes, kayaks and paddle boats you could take out and a dock to lay out on.  Unfortunately, the weather was a bit chilly (but great fall weather) so we didn't do any of those activities, which was fine with us!

We read our 'baby books' Friday afternoon-I read a book on breastfeeding, started reading Happiest Baby on the Block, and Ben read Superbaby.  He loves that book.  We went to Barnes and Noble the night before we left town and picked out a couple of books we thought looked good.  After reading something interesting Ben would always share it with me-it was so fun to talk about baby stuff with him and our views on parenting in certain situations! We will continue to read our books and have discussions here at home while we are waiting patiently for Brooklyn.

Friday afternoon/early evening we went into Eureka Springs to explore the town.  It was such a cool little town with neat shops, cool bars/pubs and a very historic yet fun atmosphere.  It would have been fun to spend an afternoon and some of the local pubs/bars out on their patios and eating wonderful bar food, if I wasn't pregnant!

We went to Autumn Breeze Restaurant in Eureka Springs for dinner.  The reviews for the restaurant were amazing and it was something we both wanted to try and the perfect dinner place.  Not too fancy but not too casual, a very nice steak house.  The food was amazing and the chocolate souffle for dessert was incredible-they are known for their chocolate souffle, and you have to order it when you are ordering your dinner as it takes about an hour to cook! So yummy!

We went back to the cabin and watched another movie and we watched the movie Happiest Baby on the Block, that I bought with the book.  I thought it would be good for both Ben and I to watch together so we could see in person what was being done to the baby to calm it, etc. and then it would be easy to discuss it.  Right after the movie got over Ben looked at me and said "I'm scared".  It was the cutest thing ever! I know once he figures it all out and gets the first time nervous jitters out he will be an awesome daddy!!

We slept in Saturday, and packed up the car, cleaned up the cabin (I don't know how 2 people can trash an area in 2 days, but Ben and I managed to get quite messy-ha!), and headed home!

What a great babymoon!! Pictures below:

30 weeks

Pregnancy Updates-30 Weeks

How Far Along: 30 weeks 5 days
Total Weight Gain: Around 27 pounds-eek! Although, people tell me I am all belly, so I don't know if they are just saying that to be nice, but honestly, I don't feel like I have gained 27 pounds, so I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing-ha!
Maternity Clothes: Yes!
Favorite Moment This Week: Hearing the heartbeat at Dr. appointment.  That is one sound I will never get tired of-such a blessing!
Gender: Girl-Brooklyn Paige
Movement: YES!! So so much-I love it! Another blessing!
Food Cravings: nothing in particular-I am still loving my orange juice but I will eat about anything.  I am having an aversion to meat.
What I Miss: Being able to walk up stairs without losing my breath-it is amazing how quickly I lose my breath!
Sleep: Hit or miss.  For some reason I have been staying up really late at night-last night I didn't go to sleep until 1am and then I got up at 10am.  I need to start going to be earlier.  I laid in bed from 11pm-1am reading, playing sudoku, browsing internet, etc.
What I am Looking Forward To: Our 'babymoon' this week! Just a couple more days until we leave! I am excited to get away for a few days!
Symptoms: aches and pains, shortness of breath, etc. etc.  All the typical symptoms of a 30 week pregnant lady-but I wouldn't trade it for anything, and I do not complain about it, when I have aches and pains it reminds me that my baby girl is healthy and growing!
Belly Button: Still half in, half out-is it every going to fully pop?!?!
Next Dr. Appt: Tuesday, Sept 27th

"Babymoon"

Next week Ben and I are taking our little 'babymoon'.  For awhile we thought we would go to Chicago, stay in a nice hotel, go out to dinner at nice restaurants, shop, etc. etc.  Well, as the time got closer, and the more money I spent on little Miss Brooklyn, we decided we probably shouldn't go all out for our 'babymoon'.  So, we are going to travel to Beaver Lake/Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  A family that I work for has been there several times and they say it is beautiful, romantic, and a great place to get away that isn't too far or too expensive. So, Ben and I will be staying in our own cabin for a few nights, enjoying each others company before the baby comes.  It is about a 4 hour drive, we will stop when we get close to our destination at a grocery store to get some food-there are fully equipped kitchens in each of the cabins, so we were thinking about just cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner at the cabin the first day and then going into Eureka Springs for a nice dinner on our last night there.  I am very excited to get away and spend some time with the hubs.  I am really hoping that since we will be out in the woods a little, that the hubs cell phone does not work so we will have no distractions.  I am going to tell him that I will not get on facebook, blogger, etc. if he does not get on his phone while we are gone.  Sounds fair to me!! This trip is all about us for the last time in forever so we both need to soak it all in and have a great time together!! Below are some pictures of where we will be staying, they are from the cabins website, we will see if my pictures match up when we get there! ha!
